More About

Ostara

Ostara marks the return of The Wishing Tree thirteen years after their debut release. Unlike the first album, which featured various external lyricists, Ostara was written entirely by Steve Rothery and Hannah Stobart, with Stobart providing all the lyrics. The recording process was a family and band-affiliated effort: the album was produced and engineered by Rothery at his own studio, with drums provided by Stobart’s husband, Paul Craddick (Enchant), and additional backing vocals from Steve’s wife, Jo Rothery.

The album’s sonic landscape was further shaped by Michael Hunter, who contributed additional keyboards and percussion in addition to his mixing duties. The visual identity of the record was a collaboration between Spanish artist Antonio Seijas (known for his work for Gazpacho and Marillion’s Happiness is the Road) and Steve’s daughter, Jennifer Rothery, who is credited with the cover design. The 43-minute set is characterised by its lush, acoustic-driven textures and melodic transparency.
