Live in Rome documents the Steve Rothery Band’s performance in Italy during the development of the The Ghosts of Pripyat studio album. Following the group’s debut in Plovdiv, this August 2014 release serves as a record of the project’s progression, featuring the core line-up of Steve Rothery (lead guitar), Dave Foster (guitar), Yatim Halimi (bass guitar), and Leon Parr (drums).

The album is structured into two sections: the first features instrumental premieres of six solo tracks, including “Morpheus” (10:06) and “The Old Man Of The Sea” (12:07). The second section includes comprehensive vocal-led performances of Marillion classics like “Easter” (07:21), “Sugar Mice” (06:06), and “Cinderella Search” (06:16). The recording also includes more diverse material such as “Monolith, Pt. 2” (03:49) and “Materna Luna” (07:37), showcasing the band’s versatility and chemistry.
